Military Family Relief Assistance
Program
Governor Ed Rendell signed Act 65 of 2005 into law
on 10 November 2005. This law implements the new Military
Family Relief Assistance Program for Pennsylvanians who serve in the
Armed Forces and their families. The General Assembly passed,
and Governor Rendell approved, legislation to authorize tax checkoff
donations to this program in July 2005 (Act 40 of 2005).
Emergency assistance grants will be available after July 2006.
This program is designed to provide emergency
assistance to members of the Armed Forces, including Pennsylvania
National Guard and reserve component personnel on active duty for
more than 30 consecutive days, and their families. The program
will be funded by voluntary donations. Gifts to the program
may be made by designating all or part of your Pennsylvania Personal
Income Tax refund to the program or by check made payable to
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (DMVA MFRAP). Donations are tax
deductible to the extent allowed by law.
