PNGAS Supports Scholarships

The Pennsylvania National Guard Scholarship Fund (PNGSF) has announced the recipients of its 2011-12 Scholarships. The Scholarship Fund is largely funded by funds provided on an annual basis by PNGAS.

At its Board of Directors Meeting on 20 Oct 11, the PNGSF announced some exciting changes in its scholarship program for the 2012-13 academic year.  Next year, PNGSF will award two $2000 scholarships (the PNGAS Scholarship and the Thorn Scholarship), a $1500 scholarship (the Murtha Memorial Scholarship) and a $1000 scholarship (the Niles Scholarship).  These scholarships will be funded by PNGAS.

The PNGSF will award two $500 scholarships funded by USAA (through arrangements made by PNGEA) and the 28th Infantry Divison Association.  PNGAS will fund several additional $500 scholarships, the number of which depends on the funding available and the number of applications received.

All-in-all, the PNGSF plans to award at least $11,000 in scholorships next year.  And all these scholarships, except the USAA and 28th Infantry Division scholarships, are made possible through the generous support of PNGAS.

The PNGAS contribution to the Scholarship Fund is another example of PNGAS support for the Soliders and Airmen of the Pennsylvania National Guard.  As a result of PNGAS support, this scholarship program, which is managed by a non-profit, IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, continues to provide "dollars for scholars" in the Guard.

The PNGSF solicits applications for scholarships in the spring of each year.  All applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Fund's Board of Directors and recipients are selected based on academic potential, military commitment, extracurricular activites and Guard participation.

PNGAS congratulates the recipients of the PNGSF scholarships for 2011-12:
