This year, we continue with our new format following a very successful annual conference last year.  Again, we have joined the Adjutant General and the Pennsylvania National Guard in co-hosting the 2nd Annual Pennsylvania National Guard Combined Joint Leadership Conference and Workshop.  This is an absolutely exciting venture, as it brings more opportunities and benefits to all of us as we, the Pennsylvania National Guard and PNGAS, pool our resources and initiatives.  This is going to be a grand event with opportunities to network and establish a clear vision for our future.  A very ambitious schedule has been set, but there will be plenty of time to enjoy this Amish community and a heaping portion of Pennsylvania Dutch hospitality.

This is an area that visitors have grown to love.  Here you will discover Amish communities where life moves at a slower pace and centers around time-honored traditions and values.  You'll find beautiful scenery dotted with one room schoolhouses and wooden covered bridges; modern farm machinery being pulled behind four- and six-mule teams; homemade clothing and quilts gently blowing in the breeze; and the clip-clop of horses' hooves echoing down quiet country roads.  The relaxing atmosphere, peaceful scenery, and variety of unique attractions and activities have made Lancaster County one of America's favorite vacation destinations.

Over five million people visit Lancaster County each year.  The numerous Amish and plain communities give this area a whole different ambiance.  These people as a whole are not as materialisticNational Guard American Chopper to visit Senior Leadership Workshop as modern day society.  Instead, they adhere to more traditional ways and family values.  You will witness their influence throughout the entire area.  Take time to reflect on the values that make them so "different."  There is a lot to be said for their slower-paced lifestyle, and we can all take some of that away with us.

The following pages will provide you with information on registration, planned activities, and the business we will conduct.  Bring your family and friends.  Enjoy a great weekend of learning, fellowship, and fun.
